Video Of The Week
Who Will Challenge China?

China has won 4 out of the 5 titles this week in Korea, while Korea won the men’s doubles to prevent the clean sweep. The finals here were somewhat disappointing, with only the mixed doubles event featuring players from opposing countries. Gao Ling and Zheng Bo defeated Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Thomas Laybourn 22-20, 21-19.

In the men’s singles Lin Dan defeated China’s rising star Chen Jin 21-14, 21-19 to redeem himself after an unsuccessful tournament last week in Malaysia. The only game that Lin Dan dropped the entire tournament was against his other teammate Bao Chunlai in the semi-finals. Lin Dan’s girlfriend had similar success in her women’s singles final against Zhu Lin, winning handily 21-14, 21-7.

While much closer than the women’s singles final, the women’s doubles was equally uninteresting as Gao Ling and Huang Sui defeated their teammates Zhang Jiewen and Yang Wei 12-21, 21-14, 21-16. The depth in the Chinese team is certainly much more than the rest of the draw.

Finally the only event of the day that didn’t feature a Chinese player was the men’s doubles where Korea’s Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae defeated their teammates Lee Jae Jin and Hwang Ji Man 21-16, 21-15.

The next Super Series event will be the All-England which is scheduled for March 6th-March 11th.
