VETERAN shuttlers Wong Choong Hann and Roslin Hashim led Malaysia's charge in the Macau Open by securing easy victories in the first round yesterday.

Choong Hann, aiming for at least a quarter-final berth, defeated Indonesia's Alamsyah Yunus 21-14, 22-20 and will meet Thailand's Pakkawat Vilailak today.
Roslin secured a convincing 21-15, 21-4 win over Nguyen Quang Minh of Vietnam and plays Dionysius Rumbaka in the second round.
Yeoh Kay Bin, who received a boost after being included in the Sea Games squad, downed New Zealand Open champion Andre Kurniawan Tedjono of Indonesia 21-18, 21-14 to reach the second round.
In the men's doubles, Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong advanced to the second round after beating Japan's Naoki Kawamae-Keishi Kawaguchi 21-12, 21-6 while Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah also went through with a 21-12, 21-11 win over Indonesia's Mohamed Ahsan-Bona Septano.
Back-up pair Khoo Chung Chiat-Razif Latif created an upset when they defeated Luluk Hadiyanto-Alven Yulianto of Indonesia 14-21, 21-16, 21-16.
