Lee Chong Wei defeated South Korean Lee Hyun-ii 21-15, 11-21 and 21-17 to take the men's singles badminton title of the Malaysia Open Super Series here on Sunday.

The top-seeded Malaysian displayed his variety of strokes in the first game, but lost the second as his left-handed opponent made all the plays.

Then, Lee regained his composure to seal the victory in 62 minutes for a fourth Malaysian Open title, adding to his three straight triumphs from 2004.

Earlier, Denmark's Tine Rasmussen stunned China's world champion and third seed Zhu Lin 18-21, 21-19 and 21-18 to take the women's singles title.

Rasmussen was two points from defeat in the second game but reeled off five points in a row to level the match at 1-1, then seized control of the match by going 9-2 ahead in the decider.

Zhu managed to battle back before Rasmussen called a time-out at 14-12 to attend to an injury ankle and held her nerve to savor the victory.

The Malaysian Open is the first tournament of the 2008 global Super Series, launched last year with a bigger prize money pool.
