The Malaysia Open will be the first of the new BWF Super Series tournaments, and the tournaments entrants will be glad to see the new prize money distribution.
For the first time all qualifiers will be paid, even if they lose in the first round of the tournament. The first round losers of the singles events will be paid $300 US for their efforts.
The issue of inequality between the prize money for the men's and women's events still stands with the men's singles champion taking home $16,000 US and the women's singles champion taking home $13,800, a difference of 16%.
The full story on the prize money distribution is available from this Malaysia Star Online story.
